How many volumes of Death Note are there?
Death Note is complete in 12 volumes in English from VIZ Media, plus the optional volume 13, "How to Read," a companion guide with character data and creator interviews. A 1–12 run is the full story; 1–13 is the completionist set.
Death Note has stayed in print for nearly two decades, so singles are easy — the value in a set is convenience and condition, not scarcity. The exceptions: the black-edition omnibus variants and box sets, which come and go from print and carry their own premiums.
If a listing says "complete set," confirm whether volume 13 is included. It changes the price, and buyers who want it really want it.
